Programs

Back in the early 2000s, the growing Hispanic community in Utah County was in need of more resources and support. That's when a group of passionate volunteers and students came together to form Centro Hispano, with the mission to provide educational, cultural, and practical opportunities to Hispanic families. Fast forward to 2023, and Centro Hispano is now funded by multiple state and federal grants and has grown to employ a team of fourteen dedicated individuals, as well as interns and volunteers.

At Centro Hispano, there are five different departments working to serve the community:

Community Resource Department

Offers translation services for important documents like birth certificates and college transcripts, as well as notary services, legal education, and assistance with filing for divorce and guardianship. This program helps over 2,000 people every year.

Job and Skills Training Department

Provides training in areas like electrician and HVAC repair certification, basic programming, and construction, assisting hundreds of people annually.

Health Promotion team

Offers classes for teens and their parents on topics like tobacco use, sex education, and rape prevention education, serving around 600 people each year. They also have two community health workers who are working closely with the state department of health and human services to provide education and information about COVID-19, its resources, and vaccines.

Immigration Services

Through Alliance Community Services, Centro Hispano is pleased to provide immigration services to individuals and families seeking assistance in navigating the complex immigration system. Our dedicated team of immigration experts is committed to providing reliable and comprehensive support throughout the immigration process. Here is an overview of the immigration services offered:

Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC)

A free service sponsored by the Taxpayer Advocate Service. The clinic serves two purposes: to educate community members about their tax rights and responsibilities, and to advocate for low-income taxpayers before the IRS in cases like audits, appeals, collection issues, and unfiled tax returns. This program serves around 400 people every year.

At Centro Hispano, we're proud to offer a range of services and support to the Hispanic community in Utah County, and we're grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in people's lives.
