FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEASON OF GIVING EXTENDED IN UTAH COUNTY-
PROVO, UTAH (October 25, 2011) — Every Dec 25 the season of giving comes to an end as sugar-stuffed children and weary parents lapse into a bliss-filled holiday coma. For those of our community originally from warmer climes, however, this culmination comes prematurely. For much of Latin America, there is still at least one more important holiday left in which to fill the lives of loved ones with joy, laughter, and kindness – Three Kings Day. Three Kings Day commemorates the visitation of the three wise men to the baby Jesus and is often celebrated with family gatherings, food, and gift-giving.
This upcoming January 6 Centro Hispano, a community based non-profit in Utah County, will help individuals and families remember and carry on this holiday tradition by hosting their annual Three Kings Day event. In addition to providing traditional bread, Rosca de Reyes, games, information, and a visit from the three kings, Centro Hispano is also working with other local businesses and agencies to outfit the children of low-income families with a much needed pair of new shoes. Last year alone this celebration boasted more than 500 attendees and successfully outfitted 240 children with new shoes. The entire Utah-Valley community is invited to attend. Those who wish to receive shoes for their children, however, must be residents of Utah County, have children between 2 and 12 years of age, and submit a completed application to Centro Hispano by November 22, 2011.
Centro Hispano welcomes all within the low income Hispanic population to apply, and encourages all those who wish to contribute monetary donations towards the children’s shoes to do so by contacting Centro Hispano at 817 S. Freedom Blvd. Provo, Utah. .You may phone us at (801) 655-0258, email us at [email protected], or visit our website at www.centrohispanouc.org.
Centro Hispano is a local nonprofit organization that provides services and educational opportunities for Utah County’s Hispanic community. Centro Hispano’s mission is to orient and mentor Latinos with the necessary skills and resources to strengthen their families and enable them to contribute to the community.
