FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXTEND THE HOLIDAY SEASON INTO JANUARY

PROVO, Utah (December 21, 2010) — Each year on January 6th local nonprofit organization Centro Hispano makes an effort to help low-income families during the winter season by providing new shoes for children during the Latin American Holiday, El Día de los Tres Reyes Magos. El Día de los Tres Reyes Magos, or the Epiphany, celebrates when the Three Wise Men followed the star to Bethlehem, arriving with gifts for the baby Jesus. On January 6th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Centro Hispano will host a cultural event for the community to celebrate this holiday and provide children in need with a free pair of shoes. This year the event will take place at Dixon Middle School in Provo. All members of the community are invited to participate in this cultural celebration by taking pictures with the Three Wise Men, enjoying a piece of the traditional bread, and learning about Centro Hispano’s services.

Centro Hispano invites the community to continue the holiday season tradition of giving by donating new shoes or monetary donations for this event. All donations will go towards purchasing shoes for children. Visit Centro Hispano online at www.centrohispanouc.org and click on the donate now button or contact Teresa Tavares, the Executive Director of Centro Hispano at [email protected] (801) 655-0258 regarding donations.

Centro Hispano is a local nonprofit organization that provides services and educational opportunities for Utah County’s Hispanic community. Centro Hispano’s mission is to orient and mentor Latinos with the necessary skills and resources to strengthen their families and contribute to the community.
